About the Divisions

The MSWSL is pleased to offer competition for both outdoor (May to August) and indoor (October to March) seasons. Our league is divided up into multiple levels of play; Senior A & Senior B.  Our Senior A and Senior B levels will be multi divisional based on quantity of teams registered each season.

Senior A - This division is divided into two subdivisions based on standings, with relegations and promotions at the end of each season. This division is played on all-weather turf year round.

Division 1 (formerly Jones or Premier) - The top subdivision of Senior A consists of teams at the top of the standings, typically composed of players with previous experience at a high level (e.g., tier 1/AAA/AA youth, varsity, premier women, provincial). These teams are often highly competitive and often represent the league at SNS provincial championships.

Division 2 (formerly Dewolfe) - The lower subdivision of the Senior A consists of teams with players from various levels of experience, including those similar to Division 1 teams and tier II youth/high school players.

Senior B - This division is divided into two subdivisions, however, unlike Senior A, there are currently no relegations or promotions between the subdivisions at the end of the seasons. Teams at the top of the standings in Division 1 may be invited to join Senior A Division 2 for increased competition levels. This division is played on either all-weather turf or grass fields, depending on the subdivision.

Division 1 (formerly Ritchie or Senior A Division 3) - This subdivision, previously part of Senior A, consists of teams with players on the more recreational end of the league spectrum, catering to those with less experience or a lesser desire to play the highly competitive games. This division is played on all-weather turf year round.

Division 2 (formerly Senior B) - This is a recreational division, with varying levels of skill, as a place for those players who wish to stay involved without being in the competitive structure, to continue playing soccer for life. Historically, this subdivision has played on grass fields for the outdoor season and all-weather turf for the indoor season. Starting from the outdoor 2024 season, all matches will be played on all-weather turf.
